At SMARTT North East, we believe that everyone should have access to the skills and the knowledge they need to make the most of their potential to succeed in employment. Our employability courses range from the award, certificate and the diploma in Employability and are qualifications that help individuals develop key personal skills, qualities and attitudes required by employers and make progress in education. Our courses has many practical, engaging and fun tasks to help students plan and review their learning, work in teams, solve problems and explore entrepreneurship.
What is an employability course?
All our Employability Skills Development course take an activity-based approach, this includes Problem Solving, Working In Team and Improvising Own Learning to raising learners awareness about employer expectations and the real life working environment
With new government changes to the Modern Apprentice Standards specification and the introduction of Functional Skills and PLTS (Personal Learning and Thinking Skills) framework, understanding the criteria your apprentices need to meet can be demanding.
SMARTT North East can work with groups and their academic partners to allow learners to meet the required standards to successfully complete their apprenticeship or work place. A vocational qualification in English or Maths (Function Skills) at a particular level carries the equivalent of GCSE at or above grade C, the qualification could help individuals to gain the skills they need to enter a particular apprenticeship or work environment.

During the last 12 months Consett AFC have worked closely with SMARTT to deliver training to it’s employees and volunteers. The training provided has been first class and delivered in a very professional and friendly manner which has resulted in many of our personnel achieving qualifications helping them not only in their work environment but also their personnel life. As a result of this we shall continue to work closely with SMARTT using them to help us produce quality personnel as part of our ongoing continuous improvement plans.
